Affiliate Disclosure

Effective date: 8 October 2026

Mildfactor is paid through affiliate links. This page explains exactly how that works, so that you can read the rest of the site knowing where the money comes from.

Which links are affiliate links

Every link on this site that points to Norton AntiVirus Plus is an affiliate link. They are marked where they appear, each one accompanied by a line of text saying so, and they are formatted as sponsored links so that search engines can see the same thing you can. Links to government bodies such as the Australian Cyber Security Centre, Scamwatch, the eSafety Commissioner, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission and the Australian Classification Board are not affiliate links and earn nothing. Neither do links to vendor documentation or to other pages on this site.

How the arrangement works

BETA - CZECH, s.r.o., the publisher of this site, takes part in an affiliate programme for Norton AntiVirus Plus, operated by the affiliate network that operates the link. When you follow one of the marked links, the network records that the visit came from this site. If you then buy a licence, the network attributes that sale to Mildfactor and pays a commission to BETA - CZECH, s.r.o. The commission is paid by the programme out of its own margin.

The attribution is normally recorded by a cookie or similar technology set on the network's own domain or the vendor's, after you have left this site. Those technologies are theirs, not ours, and are described in their own notices. Nothing is set on mildfactor.online, which uses no cookies at all, as the Cookie Policy sets out in detail.

What it costs you

Nothing. You pay the vendor's ordinary price, exactly as you would if you had typed the vendor's address into your browser yourself. Following a link from here does not add a fee, a surcharge or a condition, and it does not remove a discount you would otherwise have had. The commercial relationship is between the publisher and the programme, and you are not a party to it.

What the commission does not decide

This is the part that matters when you are judging whether to trust an answer, so it is set out plainly.

  • It does not decide which questions appear on this site.
  • It does not decide what any answer says, including answers where the honest response is that no purchase is needed.
  • It does not cause free steps to be omitted or buried. Every answer that has a free option describes the free option first.
  • It does not suppress the limits of what security software can do. Those limits have their own section on the page about choosing security software.
  • It does not buy a rating, a score, a recommendation or a position in a ranking, because this site publishes none of those things.

What does decide the content

Three things. First, what people actually ask: the questions here are the ones people type when something has gone wrong, chosen because they recur and because they can be answered generally rather than by guessing at one reader's machine. Second, what the primary sources say: each answer is checked against the published guidance of the relevant Australian authority or the documentation of the vendor involved, and anything that cannot be supported that way is rewritten as general guidance or dropped. Third, whether the answer is still worth reading if every affiliate link is deleted. An answer that fails that test is not published. The editorial method on the About page describes the process and the review cycle in full.

Why disclose at all

Because a reader deciding whether to spend money is entitled to know that the publisher of the page benefits from one of the options. In Australia, misleading or deceptive conduct in trade or commerce is prohibited under the Australian Consumer Law, which the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission enforces and explains at accc.gov.au. Advertising presented as independent editorial content is the kind of thing that provision exists to prevent, and this site is written to stay well clear of it.

What this site is not

Mildfactor is not the official website of any software vendor, not a reseller, not an authorised partner and not a support channel. It cannot process an order, issue a licence, apply a refund or resolve a billing dispute. If you buy anything, the contract is between you and the vendor, and the vendor's own terms and support arrangements apply. Questions about an order go to the vendor, not here.

Trademarks

Trademarks: Norton AntiVirus Plus and the other product names, logos and brands on this site are owned by their respective owners. Other than the paid affiliate links explained in our disclosure, Mildfactor is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any of them.

Questions about this arrangement

Write to info@mildfactor.online. If you believe an answer on this site reads as though it were written to sell something, say which one and why, and it will be looked at. The publisher's full details are in the footer of every page.
